Barmm raises ‘Code Red’ amid rise of Covid-19 cases

THE Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm), through its Ministry of Health (MOH), has declared “Code Red” alert in all health facilities across Barmm following the increase of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the country.

Dr. Safrollah Dipatuan, Barmm’s Minister of Health, said that code red, all of the health facilities in the region are ready to respond in case anyone will be found and needed to be placed under monitoring or there is a positive case.

Dipatuan said they have directed all the hospitals in Barmm to set aside a dedicated ward for Covid-19 patients, in case there will be a positive case.

“We are doing everything within our capacity to protect the residents against the dreaded disease,” Dipatuan said citing BARMM remains free from Covid-19.

He advised the public to practice preventive measures such as frequently washing hands using soap and water; maintaining social distancing; avoid hugging, kissing, or hand shaking with other people; avoid touching the eyes, nose, and mouth; and practicing proper hygiene.

President Rodrigo Duterte has declared a state of public health emergency on Monday, March 9, due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the Philippines.

As of Tuesday, March 10, the Department of Health (DOH) revealed that there are already 33 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said the Covid-19 emanated from Wuhan City, Hubei province, China, and has spread to several countries, including the Philippines. (SunStar Zamboanga)
