Councilors want water district to address consumers’ complaints

MABALACAT City councilors have asked the management of the Mabalacat City Water District and its joint venture partner, PrimeWater, to address the issues of their consumers regarding the quality of water supply. Councilors Marcos “Jun” Castro and Noel Castro, together with other members of the City Council expressed their request to the city’s water provider during last week’s city council session. Jun Castro said he receives several complaints from residents of some villages about dirty water. Some of the consumers are even posting their complaints in the social media, he added. The councilor said the city council invited the MCWD and PrimeWater officials in committee hearings to shed light on the issues but to no avail. “Maraming beses na po nating ininvite yung mga opisyales ng water district at Prime Water para ipaliwanag ang tungkol sa reklamo ng ating mga kababayan pero hindi po sila dumadating,” Jun Castro said. Noel Castro clarified that the city council is not meddling with the operations of the water district and Prime Water but merely echoing the sentiments of their constituents. He added that as city officials, they are mandated by the Local Government Code to protect the general welfare of the people of Mabalacat. Vice Mayor Gerald Aquino said he will seek the opinion of City Administrator Emmanuel Ignacio, a lawyer by profession and the city’s legal officer regarding the invitation of MCWD and PrimeWater executives in a committee hearing.
