Neda 7 participates in bloodletting activity

TEN employees of the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) 7 heeded the call of the Department of Health 7’s Sub-National Blood Center for the Visayas (SNBCV) to donate blood as part of the SNBCV’s ongoing campaign to promote voluntary blood donation.

The bloodletting activity was recently conducted at the Department of Education Ecotech Center, which is located in the Government Center in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City. Aside from the Neda personnel, employees from 12 other agencies based in the Government Center took part in the activity.

Prior to the actual bloodletting, 13 regional directors signed the Solidarity Pledge to manifest their support for the SNBCV’s campaign.

In her message, Dr. Sophia Mancao of the Department of Health 7 said she was hopeful that the blood donors will continue to donate blood after the activity. She also thanked the agencies for heeding their call and for starting a meaningful relationship with the SNBCV.

The SNBCV is advocating for adequate, safe and equitable distribution of quality blood as part of its mandate under the National Blood Services Act.

The blood donation activity came after the SNBCV personnel briefed the Neda employees on the conditions to be followed for blood donation and corrected misconceptions about blood donation.

In Central Visayas, the blood donation rate stands at 1.1 percent, with the DOH targeting a 2.0 percent rate for 2020. Of the more than 83,000 individuals from whom blood has been collected in the region, about 64,000 were males. Most of the blood donors also came from the working group with ages 25-44. S
