Gacad: Start the caring

COVID-19 is real! Covid-19 is here! For how long? We don’t know. What we know is that is has gripped the entire world and, everyone is anxious. Everyone is scared. Everyone is praying. It doesn’t really help that what we read, watch, hear and see are the effects of the virus. The number of people, countries, and places with confirmed cases, deaths, infections, etc.

es, numbers are important. Yes, locations are important. Yes, all of these information are important. However, it evokes a negative environment and people start to panic. People start to worry. People start to have a losing mindset. Check the news. Check social media most especially. The net is flooded with what Covid-19 is and what it can do.

Covid-19 is real! Let us start telling people what to do to protect oneself from the virus. Let us spread the word on why we need to do these and how we should do these.

Here is something that was shared over Facebook and credits to the owner (ctto). Let me also share it with you with the hope that you can share it too. Let’s stop the scaring and focus on the caring!

“Deep breathe everyone. This virus is survivable and can be controlled. It will be painful. It looks super contagious, and extreme social distancing can work if we cooperate. There is no us or them. We are all in this together. Now is the time to help each other out.

Things that you can do now:

1. Wash your hands.

2. Avoid crowds.

3. Stay home as much as possible.

4. Work from home if possible.

5. If you are sick, stay home unless you need to see a doctor.

6. Older people >60 should avoid going out at all.

7. Don’t spread misinformation.

What you can do to help:

1. Listen to instructions from authorities and follow them.

2. Be self-sufficient as much as possible.

3. Buy enough supplies but don’t hoard more than you need.

4. Follow quarantine if necessary.

5. If you are sick, inform your doctor and don’t hide.

What doesn’t help:

1. Spreading unverified and fake news.

2. Panicking and yelling at people.

3. Refusing to follow duly constituted authority.

4. Demanding unwarranted testing and medical care.

5. Demanding special treatment over others.”

“When ‘I’ replaced with ‘We,’ even the illness becomes wellness.” ~ Malcolm X

“We are made for goodness. We are made for love. We are made for friendliness. We are made for togetherness. We are made for all of the beautiful things that you and I know. We are made to tell the world that there are no outsiders. All are welcome: black, white, red, yellow, rich, poor, educated, not educated, male, female, gay, straight, all, all, all. We all belong to this family, this human family, God’s family.” ~ Desmond Tutu

“Together we can face any challenges as deep as the ocean and as high as the sky.” ~ Sonia Gandhi
