Guv approves 3 flyovers in Oro, says it’s his ‘contribution’ to ease traffic

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano has announced that the infrastructure committee of the Regional Development Council (RDC) in Northern Mindanao has approved the construction of three flyovers to help ease bottleneck traffic in Cagayan de Oro City.

Emano also said the Misamis Oriental West Diversion Road (Mowdir) which will start in Canitoan, this city towards Opol and Lugait towns is underway.

The governor, who chairs the infrastructure committee of RDC-Northern Mindanao, said the three flyovers will be constructed in Galaxy-Coastal Road intersection in Gusa, from Kauswagan to Liceo de Cagayan University area and in Barangay Bulua.

Emano said around 70,000 cars passed at the Galaxy-coastal road intersection while 14,000 vehicles passed by along the Kauswagan to Liceo area everyday.

“We also approve in the Infra committee of RDC three huge projects which I think will help minimize if not solve traffic problem in the city,” Emano said during the launching of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program in the province last week.

“This flyovers will help decongest traffic,” he added.

Emano has already secured the support of Public Works Secretary Mark Villar for the Mowdir project.

The road project will start from Canitoan going to Opol and towards Lugait town.

Emano said along the way there will be another route going to the different towns in the province’s second district.

The capitol’s top official said motorists can use this alternate route should there be a problem in the national highway.

“So if one of the bridges breaks sa atong mga munisipyo there is alternate route para sa moanhi sa Cagayan de Oro or moadto sa Iligan,” Emano said.

“This is our contribution to ease the traffic problem in CdeO,” he added.
