THE Superstar has arrived! The world-acclaimed musical “Jesus Christ Superstar,” that is!
Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion-Cebu (CIC) will bring back—by popular demand—Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Jesus Christ Superstar” on March 12, 13 and 14 (Matinee, 2 p.m.) and March 13, 14 and 15 (Gala, 7 p.m.) at the CIC Auditorium.
This multi-awarded, world-class Broadway musical, will feature renowned Cebuano drama/musical director Benjie Diola, who has been behind many of CIC’s highly successful plays in the ‘70s and ‘80s. This year, CIC takes pride in marking three significant milestones with this production: The school’s 140th anniversary; The musical’s 50th anniversary, also in joyful anticipation of the 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines.
And last but not least, it’s the most fitting way to celebrate and revitalize the school’s evangelizing mission, bringing the “Reason for Being” closer to the hearts of the youth, especially during this Lenten season.
“Jesus Christ Superstar” is a timeless work, roughly based on the Gospels of the New Testament. It recounts the story of Jesus in the final days before His Crucifixion. This is a must-see!
