New ESL school to open

A NEW English language school will open inside the Hadsan Cove Resort in Lapu-Lapu City in April.

Cebu Languages Black Forest Learning Center is a school that offers courses on English as a second language (ESL) while giving students opportunities to take part in outdoor activities. Among the school’s outdoor activities are island tours, diving, rappelling, karting and first aid training.

Company president Bahman Hamedebarghi said he fell in love with Cebu that’s why he decided to build the school here. He said he has been to 45 countries but Cebu made the biggest impression on him, especially that the province has become a top business destination.

He said Cebu Languages wants to foster an intensive, creative and enjoyable learning environment so they combine classroom learning with outdoor activities or tours every day. The school limits classes to four to eight students and offers one-on-one core classes.

Cebu Languages also has agreements with the University of San Carlos, St. Theresa’s College, Cebu Doctor’s University and Southwestern University. The agreements allow Cebu Languages students to join some classes in the different schools so that they can have a feel of a foreign classroom setting.

Wenilyn Laurice Austria, Cebu Languages principal, said their teachers underwent intensive training and are certified by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Austria said their students can choose to stay at a five-star and three-star hotels or a condominium. They can also arrange for their accomodation in other locations. (RBF)
