P1.5-M properties destroyed in Zambo Sur town fire

AT LEAST P1.5 million worth of properties went up in smoke in a fire incident in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police said Wednesday, March 11.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident happened around 9 a.m. Tuesday at Purok Maabtikon in the village of Paglaum, Dumalinao, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Galvez said the fire broke out at the kitchen of Justo Rey Duran, 65, a provincial government employee, and spread to house of his neighbor, Jose Felix Pasay, 59.

Galvez said the house of Duran was razed while that of Pasay, was partially damaged. The worth of property damaged was placed at P1.5 million.

She said the firefighters declared fire our around 10:25 a.m. of the same day. (SunStar Zamboanga)
