Sungduan: Merit and appreciation

IT MAY already be years since a Filipino based in California graduated from his alma mater in Manaoag, Pangasinan but his school remains to be in his heart and mind.

Through the years, former Baguio City resident and university professor Dr. Clarito De Francia who is now a successful realtor to their own company with his wife Rosemarie Calisen-De Francia in Santa Maria, California, has been helping Lipit National High School in so many ways.

Recently, he went back there and led the launching of the Hymn of Lipit National High School which he himself composed as a gift to his former school.

The launching at the open auditorium of LNHS was actively participated by the teachers, students, barangay officials, PTA officials, representatives from DepEd, officials from Pangasinan Provincial Board, former classmates of the composer, and his friends.

The song is about increasing brain power and improve intelligence, living with good values, and philosophy for happy life.

De Francia who belongs to the first batch of graduates of the school in 1977 also enjoined the students and faculty to unite and work together to achieve success in life.

The composer’s sister engineer and nurse practitioner Elvira De Francia–Dela Pena, topnotcher of the school Batch 1981 and niece Lorna Salon-Caronan who is topnotcher of Batch 1987 and now both successful nurse in Santa Maria, California also attended the occasion.

Just like De Francia, Dela Pena and Caronon have also been supporting their alma mater by sending donations for the improvement of the school.

As recognition to their continuous dedication and pursuit to develop the school for the benefit of the students, a plaque of appreciation and merit was awarded to them by Principal Violeta Sagun.

It is good to look back to where we came from. May a thousandfold blessing come to those who lend a hand.
