Garcia leads 2020 ‘Outstanding Bagonhon’ awardees

ADMIRAL Joel Garcia, appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as the 28th Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard leads this year’s Outstanding Bagonhon awardees, who will be honored by the city government during the Gawad Bagonhon ceremony on March 13 at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center.

He will receive the award for Government Service and will serve as the guest speaker of the event.

Other awardees include Brigadier General Rodolfo Lavadia, Jr., the Commander General Headquarters and Headquarters Service Command; Engr. Lea Napagao- Delfinado, the Regional Director of the Department of Public Works and Highways; Lorna Sun Tobias, the Regional Director of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Koronadal, Revenue Region No. 18; Renato Duran, multi- awarded radio broadcaster and former Negros Press Club president; Rogen Ladon, 30th SEA Games boxing gold medalist; and James Palicte, 30th SEA Games boxing gold medalist.

The awarding rites, to be led by Mayor Nicholas Yulo and Vice Mayor Ramon Torres, will be held at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center at 10 a.m.

It will be a part of the city’s celebration of its 54th Charter Anniversary and 23rd Babaylan Festival.

The ceremony which was originally scheduled on February 18 was rescheduled due to DOH advisory on the Covid-19.

The program will include the awarding of Outstanding Taxpayers of Bago in the year 2019. Mayor Yulo and Vice Mayor Torres will deliver their respective messages. (PR)
