THE House of Representatives has decided to suspended work from March 16 to April 12 2020 due to the threat of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
According to House Secretary General Jose Montales, Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano has decided to implement a work schedule following President Rodrigo Duterte’s work suspension for the executive department last March 12.
“With the health and safety of the employees of the House of Representatives in mind, Speaker Cayetano has decided to adopt a work schedule parallel to the one to be implemented by the Executive Department. There will be work suspension in the House from March 16 to April 12,” Montales said.
He added that employees of the House will be on call.
The House will also disinfect its 11 buildings starting Friday March 13, until Sunday.
Montales underscored the importance of House employees’ health and protection.
“The health and safety of everyone in HRep continues to be our priority. As part of our immediate measures to protect everyone against Covid-19, the HRep premises shall undergo thorough cleaning and disinfection,” he said. (Jove Moya/SunStar Philippines)
