Central Luzon execs urged to work as one vs Covid-19

GOVERNOR Dennis “Delta” Pineda urged his fellow local officials and concerned line agencies of the national government in Central Luzon to work as one in the fight against Covid-19.

This was gleaned during the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) special meeting attended by provincial governors, league of municipalities’ presidents, city mayors, and national government agencies at PANA Hall, Camp Captain Julian Olivas, this city, last Thursday (March 12).

During the meeting, Pineda said it would be better if all the provinces in Central Luzon will just work together as one in planning and taking appropriate response against Covid-19.

“Mas mainam siguro kung i-activate na ang response cluster framework ng Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) even before mag-Code Red Sub-Level 2 ang Central Luzon. Ang council na lang ang magse-set ng meeting para coordinated ang lahat, kaysa magkanya-kanya ang mga probinsiya,” he said.

He also asked the council to entrust with the local government units (LGUs) the lists of persons under investigation (PUI), and those who have been tested positive in Covid-19.

“Huwag natin silang itago nang sa gayo’y kaagad nating matugunan ang kanilang mga pangangailangan,” the governor furthered.

Prior to this, the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH) recently released a statement confirming that there are two positive cases of Covid-19 and five PUIs admitted to their facility.

Despite this, Pineda assured that the provincial government is continuously doing its best to create and strengthen the measures aimed at preventing the spread of the virus throughout the province.

Pineda also appealed to the public to immediately consult a medical professional once flu-like symptoms occur.

“Huwag na po nating hayaan na lumala pa ang sitwasyon, at kumalat ang virus. Palaging bukas at handang umalalay ang pamahalaang panlalawigan sa sinumang kakatok sa aming pintuan,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) advised the public to frequently wash hands, practice proper cough etiquette, avoid contact with anyone who manifests flu-like symptoms, and eat only well-cooked food.

In terms of disinfecting the surroundings, DOH also said that mixing a 1/4 cup of chlorine with one gallon of water can be used as an alternative for those who cannot afford Lysol disinfectant spray.

This contains sodium hypochlorite, which is a broad-spectrum disinfectant that is effective for the disinfection of viruses, bacteria, fungi, and mycobacterium.

President Rodrigo Duterte raised on the same day the Covid-19 alert level to Code Red Sub-Level 2, imposing a 30-day restriction on land, domestic air and sea travel to and from Metro Manila from March 15 to April 14. (PR)
