P15-M marijuana destroyed in Atok

ANTI–NARCOTICS operatives burned more than P15 million worth of marijuana in Salawikan, Pasdong, Atok, Benguet Thursday morning.

Joint personnel of Atok Municipal Police Station, Provincial Mobile Force Company and Benguet Provincial Police Office in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Cordillera conducted the marijuana eradication in five different sites in Atok.

Authorities uprooted and burned onsite 4,800 fully grown marijuana plants planted on a 600 square meter lot with an estimated dangerous drug board (DDB) value of P960,000.

Fifteen minutes later, the joint operatives burned 800 fully grown marijuana plants, 55 kilograms of dried leaves and four kilograms of marijuana seeds in an 100 square meter land area with an estimated value of P6,920,000 on the second site followed by 960 fully grown marijuana plants planted on 120 square meter lot with a DDB value of P192,000.

Also discovered are 61 kilograms of marijuana stalks with a DDB value of P7,320,000 and 1,000 fully grown marijuana plants on a 200 square meter lot with a DDB value of P200,000 for the fourth and fifth site.

Investigation continues for the still unidentified cultivators.
