Benguet mayors warn hoarders

TOP officials in Benguet towns urged the public to report hoarding and overpricing of hygiene materials amidst Covid–19 threat.

La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda and Kibungan Mayor Cesar Molitas asked stakeholders to report undue price manipulation and possible hoard products used for sanitation during emergency situation.

“Isunga, maibaga san kakailian ay man-ila-lako ya din umali ay man-ilako, ay di manalin di man-idulin uno man-itabon asina ilako si nangina ay presyo (hoarding) uno man-ilako abe ay nangina di presyo na (overpricing) sinan Kibungan karkaro din masks, sanitizers, alcohol, ya din udom ay kangrunaan ay mausar ya makan,” Molitas added.

Salda meanwhile in his executive order warned all establishments, groceries, shops, stores and pharmacies not to hoard or overprice preventive gadgets such as masks, sanitizers, alcohol and other basic necessities.

Salda also asked stakeholders to report hoarding and overpricing to the mayor’s office hotline (0910) 310 – 1182.

Both chief executives reiterated the Department of the Interior and Local Government Circular 2020-023 to protect consuming public on the possible undue price manipulation and possible hoarding during emergency situations.
