A 37-YEAR-OLD police officer was shot dead by unidentified assailants along the national highway in Sitio Dapdap, Barangay Bugas in Badian town, southwestern Cebu at 2:35 a.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2020.

The victim was identified as Cpl. Vincent Mary Arbuladora, a resident of Barangay Jampang, Argao. Arbuladora succumbed to gunshot wounds in the face.

Investigators found empty shells of a 9mm pistol and a .45 pistol at the scene.

Badian Police Station Chief Capt. Gilfred Baroman said Arbuladora’s wife told him her husband had been receiving death threats before the ambush.

However, Arbuladora ignored these, his wife told Baroman.

Baroman said the police officer’s murder could be related to his work.

Arbuladora had been assigned as an operative in the Dalaguete Police Station before he was transferred to the holding unit of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO). His transfer stemmed from a complaint against him for indiscriminate firing.

Arbuladora was later assigned to the Provincial Mobile Force Company after the charges against him were dropped.

Baroman said they did not receive reports that Arbuladora was involved in illegal activities like protecting drug personalities. (GPL / KAL)
