Gingoog prohibits mass gatherings amid Covid-19 threat

MASS gatherings and local government-sponsored activities in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental have been cancelled due to coronavirus disease (Covid-19) threat.

In the second guideline issued by Gingoog City Mayor Erick Cañosa on March 13, conventions, exhibits, conferences, parties and other similar social activities in the city must be cancelled, including cockpit operation.

All village assemblies, fiestas, Araw ng Barangay or other mass gatherings in the different villages, including the "Fountain of Prosperity" at the Rizal Park, shall be temporarily suspended until further notice.

Meanwhile, local officials and other concerned agencies, including school heads and teachers, are directed to strictly monitor their jurisdiction to ensure students stay in their homes and avoid going to crowded, public places.

Cañosa already issued an executive order cancelling classes in all levels both in public and private schools in Gingoog City.

Officials and employees of the City Economic Enterprises Department (Ceed) are mandated to strategize and conduct daily disinfection protocols within the premises of the Gingoog City Public Market.

The City Health Office and City Tourism Office and the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council shall conduct monitoring and inspections to all tourism-related enterprises such as but not limited to hotels, motels, restaurants, spas, beach resorts, coffee shops, bars, and other business enterprises for the strict implementation of the daily disinfection protocols.

Retailers and business enterprises are reminded that there should be no price movement on the basic goods and necessities. Prices of goods should not go higher than the ceiling prescribed by the Department of Trade and Industry.

The City Government also adopted the memorandum issued by Governor Yevgeny Emano that local government units shall conduct simultaneous clean-up and disinfection to all public offices including schools whether public or private every Friday, starting March 13 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The public is encouraged to observe one meter distancing when in public places or inside an enclosed structure or when attending any social activities.
