Vessel carrying passengers from Manila allowed entry in Cagayan de Oro

A VESSEL carrying passengers from Manila was allowed to dock at the port in Cagayan de Oro City after it was not allowed entry at the Nasipit port in Agusan del Norte, which is currently in lockdown.

Mayor Oscar Moreno said he allowed the M/V St. Francis Xavier ship to dock at the Macabalan port provided that all passengers will have their temperatures taken and will undergo home quarantine.

Moreno said a bus company transported the 491 passengers to their destinations in the eastern part of Mindanao.

"Kabalo ko daghan sa ila, kay Nasipit man na, daghang pasahero taga Agusan, Surigao, naa puy Misamis Oriental. Nasipit is very close to Gingoog, so I felt nga kun dili ko mosugot, asa man sila paingon?" Moreno said.

"So importante lang thermal scanning and home quarantine. Dili man pud ni sila ingon nga PUI (person under investigation) or what," he added.

The Bureau of Quarantine has also guaranteed the mayor that it will do its part in the monitoring of the passengers' health status.

Moreno reiterated that there will be no lockdown or community quarantine in Cagayan de Oro City, but he ordered that all malls will be closed starting Tuesday, March 17, to lessen the people from neighboring municipalities and cities from loitering around the city.

A curfew was also imposed on the same day.
