3 nabbed in Sibugay town anti-drug operations

THREE people, including two high-value target personalities, were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police said Tuesday, March 17.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Jay Gonzales, 19, Brail Ladiero, 20, and Nijar Ahmad, 19.

She said Gonzales is listed as Top 7 priority target on illegal drugs-municipal level while Ladiero is a priority target street-level personality.

Galvez said the two were arrested around 6:50 p.m. Monday at Purok Ilang-Ilang in Lower Taway Village, Ipil, the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Recovered from them were two medium and one small sizes heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, one unit cellular phone, and P500 marked money.

Galvez added that Ahmad was arrested around 9 p.m. Monay also at Purok Ilang-Ilang in Lower Taway Village, Ipil. Ahmad yielded some P39,000 worth of suspected shabu, P500 marked money and other personal belongings.

She said a case for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects, who were temporarily detained at the Ipil Municipal Police Station. (SunStar Zamboanga)
