FilSino games postponed



AFTER placing Bacolod City under the community quarantine, the Class A championship and Class B semifinals of the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Invitational Cup at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School gym has been postponed indefinitely.

But, prior to the quarantine order was announced, the Redeemer-Summit Still and Sparkling completed the upset over top seed NOAC-Beer na Beer Strong, 100-94 while No. 2 Choi-Brewkettle overcame the Province of Negros Occidental-Cobra Original, 92-74 during the Class A semifinals.

Redeemer led in the opening quarter, 28-20 behind Joemarie Bayhon’s 10 points as Bambam Oquindo added 7 points even as John Enaya and John Morales combined for 16 points for NOAC.

NOAC cut the deficit in the second period, 53-49 as Tommy Andren connected with 10 points and Gerald Abrot shot 9 points while Bimbim Pelada and Peter John Deles combined 16 markers for Redeemer.

NOAC further chopped the lead in the 3rd canto, 77-75 setting up for a down the wire finish in the playoff period but, Redeemer finished strong on Deles’ 27 markers as Ryan Maningo added 14 points, Bayhon shot 13 points, Oquindo made 10 points and Richard Verayo with 8 points.

Meanwhile, Andren paced NOAC with 20 points backstopped by Morales with 17 points0, Abrot has 16 points, Enaya made 12 points, and Glen Dormido produced 10 points.

On the other hand, Richard Dairo sizzled for 32 points to spearhead Choi-Brewkettle as Justine Baldonado added 15 points as Bonbon Cadagat shot 11 points while Ronald Ryan de la Cruz finished with 24 points as Warren Alintano added 17 points as Peewee Demonteverde dropped 11 points. (JSG)
