Toboso checkpoint nets loose gun

THE joint elements of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police recovered firearm and subversive documents with high intelligence value in Barangay Tabun-ac, Toboso, Negros Occidental on March 15.

Based on the military report, the joint AFP-PNP checkpoint operations composed of troops from 79th Infantry Battalion (79IB) and Toboso Municipal Police Station noticed two unidentified persons riding a red motorcycle with no plate number suddenly stopped more or less 30 meters away from checkpoint area.

While the troops approached them, the two unidentified person immediately run away towards a secluded area leaving one backpack containing a Caliber .45 with live ammunition, personal belongings, medicines and other subversive documents.

The AFP and the PNP intensified law enforcement operations in support to Provincial Task Force Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-Elcac) through a series of checkpoint operations in the province.

Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade Commander said that the two unidentified persons believed to be members of Special Partisan Unit (SPARU) of the Communist NPA Terrorist was taken by surprise by the joint AFP-PNP checkpoint operations in the area.

It can be recalled on February 28, 2020 the troops under 62nd Infantry (Unifier) Battalion encountered more or less 10 Communist NPA Terrorists at Sitio Agpapatao, Bry Binobohan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental wherein two Sparu members of Communist NPA Terrorist were killed. The slain rebels were responsible in the series of killings of innocent civilians in the area.

“The AFP-PNP will continue our joint efforts to hunt down the members of Communist NPA Terrorist and preempt them from their extortions and other terroristic activities in our community. Once again, we encourage our fellow Negrense to cooperate with us through our Whole of Nation Approach in ending the local local Communist armed conflict in the province”, Pasaporte added. (TDE)
