Contact tracing up for female Covid–19 patient

ALTHOUGH Baguio City remains coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic free, the Baguio City Health Service Office (CHSO) is conducting contact tracing of the female patient who visited the Summer Capital last week.

Doctor Donnabel Tubera, head of the Epidemiology Surveillance Unit, said they have already done contact tracing for the 24–year–old female and confirmed five persons under monitoring (PUM).

Tubera assured that the city government and the CHSO in partnership with the different barangays are doing its best to contain and prevent Covid–19 transmissions in Baguio.

Based on their record, there are 17 persons under investigation (PUIs) in the city with nine tested negative.

The March 17 medical briefing of the Department of Health (DOH) in the Cordillera reported 381 PUMs with 137 who completed their 14-day quarantine and 254 still completing their quarantine period.

Meanwhile, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Director Marlo Iringan, in a media briefing called Cordillerans to support the enhanced community quarantine and assured local government units, in close coordination with the DOH and other government agencies, will do its best to lead the effort on containing and prevent further transmission of Covid-19.

Iringan also called on the public to cooperate with the check points and not to be afraid but instead trust the law enforcement personnel manning check points, as they are there to restore order.

Police Brigadier General R’win Pagkalinawan, Police Regional Office - Cordillera regional director, in the same press briefing also appealed for public support to their check points, which he outlines that only aims to protect people from local transmission of Covid-19.

“Kakampi nyo kami and we only want to make sure na walang tao na makakahawa at walang mahahawaan,” he said.

Pagkalinawan added the fast lane will be provided for carriers of essential goods, medical and food supplies, as well as health officials/personnel and other frontliner workers in the fight against COVID.
