SPORTS events for children in Cagayan de Oro and the other parts of Mindanao are among the casualties of the cruel and deadly Covid-19 virus.

The country's leading Futsal supporter, The Henry Moran Foundation and CEO Danny Moran and the SM Mall Management, have postponed the SM Mall Kids Futsal games supposedly set this summer.

THMF and SM Malls have reset the local elimination tournaments in the middle of next month and then the national championship in May at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila.

The continued and unstoppable spread of the deadly Covid-19 virus that already scored deaths across the country have forced the organizers to cancel the events this summer.

To the football-loving buffs' consolation, however, the events are not cancelled indefinitely and will eventually resume once the Covid-19 virus will die down.

"Due to the growing concerns about the spread of the Covid-19 and in compliance with the government authorities to limit assembly, gatherings and events, including sporting activities, The Henry Moran Foundation and SM Mall management have agreed to postpone the SM Mall Kids Futsal games," said THMF CEO Danny Moran.

The Covid-19 virus has wrecked havoc to the football development in Mindanao.

Aside from the Marawi Futsal Festival, the SM Mall Kids Futsal games in Cagayan de Oro and the 16th edition of the Del Monte Cup in Bukidnon were also postponed.
