Cuevas-Rañada: House arrest

IN VIEW of the Covid-19 pandemic, our university, upon the recommendation and directive from the higher education commission, classes are now suspended until further notice. Initial remedy was for faculty members to resort in online teaching. Work at home. Study at home.

The best part of being home is unlimited bonding with family members. We cook and eat together. We watch television (K-Drama from Netflix). We listen to music (mostly the kind of music my husband listens to). We exercise (early morning walk and late afternoon home training). We read books. We sleep early (around 10 o’clock in the evening). We wake up later than the usual (wake-up call at 8 o’clock in the morning). We take naps (usually after lunch time). We have snack time (after the nap time). We play with our fur babies - Dulang, Pulag and K2. We are enjoying and taking advantage of every moment in this time of Covid-19 scare.

If you come to think of it, staying at home, as what our government directed, is not bad at all. We get a chance to reconnect with our loved ones inside the comfort of our homes. Sometimes, with all our busy schedules and deadlines to meet, we forget to spend quality time with the most important persons in our lives. It is unfortunate, however, that we are forced to do this because of the increasing threat posed by the virus.

Now that we all realized how fatal and serious this disease is, we must all take heed and follow the strict rules and regulations implemented by both national and local government in containing the virus. This is not the best time to be smart to circumvent the preventive measures devised by our officials. We acknowledge the protocols arranged for our safety may be difficult for most of us. But sometimes we need to sacrifice for the benefit of everyone. And the least we can do and contribute is for us to stay home, limit our engagement outside unless of it's really necessary and observe social distancing. With God’s blessing, we, Kagay-anons, can all survive this most trying times like we always do.

Oh, and please, don’t forget to wash your hands!
