THE depressing situation caused by Covid-19 has hard-hit businesses, including small, medium and huge enterprises, where the income of its workers are badly affected.

What is worse are those who earn through "remedio general" (general remedy) because the disruption in the normal function of a community will truly halt the going out of extra monies for this sector.

While a lot of people worry about their income citing the bulk of monthly obligations that they cannot ignore such as securing the food supply and other essential needs of the family, it was mitigated when some banks and other financial institutions declared a payment holiday from 30 days to 60 days, the most.

Such good news has removed some financial burdens to a lot of people whose income were affected by disruption of businesses and services due to Covid-19.

That development gave the people an economic relief while we all face the unknown future blackened by the unpredictable spread of coronavirus in some areas in the country including other countries abroad.

In Bacolod City, with the imposition of some restrictions in coming in and going out of the city, this has lessened traffic congestion as the number of sporadic vehicles can be counted as they pass by.

Coronavirus also has its positive benefits as with the restricted movements of people in the community, it also gave a breather to Mother Earth in terms of ameliorating air pollution as few vehicles run the streets. But of course, it is not also good to business, thus, all of us will just have to adjust until this crisis leaves us, hopefully, with an extra resilient spirit and improved sense of concern for our family and community.
