THE Laguindingan Airport has been shut down since Wednesday, March 18, per order issued by Laguindingan town mayor Diosdado Obsioma over Covid-19 fears.

Airport manager Engr. Job De Jesus said they will follow the executive order, recognizing that the local government unit has the power to do so.

Although passenger flights have been suspended, De Jesus said the airport will remain open for cargo flights and military flights.

Before the executive order, the airport was operating without restrictions, even still accepting flights from Clark International Airport.

Cebu-bound flights were already suspended following Cebu’s travel ban.

De Jesus said airlines were already advised of the temporary shutdown.

In the executive order, the order was made for the welfare of the people of Laguindingan and neighboring towns.
