House-to-house health check underway to look for sick patients

THE City Health Office (CHO) of Cagayan de Oro will be conducting a house-to-house health check in villages to determine those who are sick as well as to monitor those with history of travel.

This will be done by the CHO, barangay health workers, Barangay Emergency Response Team, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, and Community Development Volunteers, according to City Mayor Oscar Moreno.

“Hopefully, ang mga barangays magkooperar, ang katawhan, mga purok leader, mga sitio leaders, mga kagawad, magtabang,” Moreno said during the regular press conference on coronavirus disease on Wednesday, March 18.

(Hopefully, the villages would cooperate; the residents, purok and sitio leaders, watchmen would assist.)

The house-to-house activity, according to Dr. Lorraine Nery of the CHO, will involve temperature scanning and checking each household member for any signs of illness and other health concerns.

This is also part of the barangay health workers’ profiling as they monitor for people who have a history of travel from outside Cagayan de Oro City.

“This is very, very difficult to do but we are determined to do this,” Moreno said.

Looking for places of quarantine

Meanwhile, the city mayor has also shared that they are looking for potential places of quarantine.

This, Moreno said, is to keep the other members of the family safe from those who will be kept under quarantine.

“Cagayan de Oro has a huge population and of course we also understand nga katong bisan dili taga Cagayan moanhi man gyud sa Cagayan for hospital care. Dili man mahimo nga imo na silang babagan diha sa atong boundaries, nga dili na pasulod. Lisod kaayo,” Moreno said.

“We will put up mga places for quarantine. I hope the people will understand, this is very, very important nga naay kwarantina,” he added.

Moreno said the City Government has already formed a team to scout for potential places of quarantine in the city.

The city mayor has also assured that there is no need to worry as places of quarantine will be safe and will have health providers to attend to their patients.
