DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said only workers are allowed to travel within the region provided that they will show their identification (ID) cards indicating the address of their companies.

In a radio interview on 87.5 FM Disaster Radio Wednesday, Duterte-Carpio discouraged unnecessary travels such as a vacation in other parts of the region. As much as possible, the public is advised to stay in their respective homes to avoid contracting the disease.

“Dili sila pwede mag-adtog Tagum para mukaon lang didto sa restaurant, dili pwede. We can only travel within the region kung mutrabaho ka, kung muadto kag hospital mupalit ka ug tambal (You don’t just go to Tagum to eat. We can only travel within the region if you work or go to the hospital or you buy food),” Duterte-Carpio said.

On Tuesday evening, the Regional Peace and Order Council (Rpoc) and Regional Development Council (RDC) created the Davao Region Covid-19 Task Force to implement a region-wide unified effort across local government units to contain the Covid-19 infection.

Duterte-Carpio was designated as the chairperson by the unanimous decision of the members of both councils.

Davao Region Covid-19 Task Force shall implement the suspension of Land, Sea and Domestic Air for 14 days, and may be reduced to seven days upon review of Infectious Disease Specialist Consultant.

All entry points to Davao Region will be closed on Thursday midnight, March 19. Everyone can leave Region 11 anytime but cannot come back beginning 00:01 of Thursday, 19 March 2020 until the next 14 days.

“Sunda nalang na ninyo kesa naman mag individual lockdown ta diri magkagubot napod ta like what happened diba tong nag positive ang Tagum (Just obey the guidelines or else we resort to individual lockdown and that would not suit any of us just like when there was a positive case in Tagum),” Duterte-Carpio.

She clarified that within the region-wide lockdown, those outside the region will not be allowed to enter starting today. But she added that those who wish to go out the region can travel but can no longer return after 14 days.

Meanwhile, Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) Mayor Al David Uy restricted the entry of visitors and non-residents of their city. Samal non-residents who are working in the island must present valid IDs/company IDs or with registered business for businessmen.

Landowners with valid land titles in Samal can go in and out of Samal Island.

“Kung ang inyo tuyo diri samal suroy2x ug igat2x lang (If your purpose is only to find leisure), sorry you cannot enter Samal Island. This will be imposed during the Region 11 lockdown. If you have a clearance from the RTF 11 Covid 19, then you can go in and out of Samal Island,” Uy said on his Facebook account.
