THE Land Transportation Office (LTO)-Central Visayas has activated its Malasakit Text Line to cater to questions and concerns related to land transportation as it temporarily closed its office Wednesday, March 18, 2020, amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

The said text line will cater to four topics: Licensing through 0918-557-6658; Registration at 0918-557-6662; Apprehension at 0918-557-6664; and concerns on plates at 0918-807-3502.

The Malasakit text line was activated Thursday, March 19, 2020. LTO staff will answer text messages on regular office hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

LTO 7 Director Victor Caindec said: “We’re calling on the public to bear with us in this critical time. The LTO 7 is doing its best to serve the public.”

LTO 7 also identified quick response centers or focal point offices that are open on regular office hours Monday to Friday to accommodate the concerns of motorists. These offices are the Tagbilaran City District Office, Bais City District Office and Cebu City District Office and Operations Division.

LTO, however, will have to reduce the number of office visitors to 50 percent as part of the guidelines of the Department of Transportation on the community quarantine and social distancing measures.

Meanwhile, all executive branches of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) including its “negosyo” centers are to limit person-to-person contact.

They also temporarily suspended their frontline services including business name registration via teller. These will reopen as soon as the State of Calamity proclamation will be lifted, it said in a statement.

The DTI, however, said it will continue to monitor the implementation of the price freeze as well as actions on consumer complaints. (WBS)
