Mayor orders salary release of City Hall employees

ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. ordered the early release of the salary of government workers to help them in this current health crisis due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Lazatin instructed the City Budget, Accounting and Treasurer offices to immediately release the salary to assure employees will be able to cope up with the emergency situation.

To date, the City Government is in skeletal workforce aside from the front liners.

Frontline response offices involved in disaster response, delivery of basic and health service, and other vital services remain operational.

According to Lazatin, apart from assuring public safety, peace and order against Covid-19, part of the city's responsibility is to ensure the welfare of its workers.

"I have great people working behind my back to help and support me deliver quality services to the public. Every family should have food to put on the table. And please join our government safety measures to prevent the virus from entering our City. Take this moment to deepen more your relationship with your families. Dasal at kalinisan po ang magiging sagot natin para mas maiwasan ang corona, at it should really has to start at home,"he said.

Moreover, at the time of writing, checkpoints are set up in the city's borders. Lazatin is encouraging his constituents to just stay at home, "for when you stay at home you are already saving lives."

"Practice social distancing if you need to go outside. And please just leave home if urgent. Our grocery stores, supermarkets, and other establishments providing basic necessities will remain operational. If establishments are open, they have to comply with the implementing rules and regulations set by the government, such as skeletal force in the workplace," he said.

Lazatin also shared he recently tasked Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Business Permit and Licensing Division and Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Office to inspect the inventory and stocks of supermarkets and groceries operating in the city.
