Tesda, Atino hold calibration for assessors

SOME 144 participants from Negros Occidental have participated in the “Calibration for Assessors” held at the Planta Hotel in Bacolod City recently.

The activity was initiated by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) - Negros Occidental and Association of Technical Institutions of Negros Occidental (Atino).

It is aimed at updating the assessors, assessment center managers, and processing officers of the process and procedure of competency assessment and certification.

Among the highlights included the discussion on Memorandum No. 005 series 2020 issued by Secretary Isidro Lapeña on January 9 this year regarding the management conduct of assessment, review of the affidavit of undertaking and desirable work values of an assessor, and the renewal of commitments of the accredited assessors by reciting the assessors’ credo.

During the session, speakers tackled some issues and concerns related to competency assessment.

Tesda-Negros Occidental acting director Beverly Insular, in her message, reiterated Lapeña’s directive on keeping the integrity of the national assessment.

Insular also reminded the assessors, processing officers and assessment and certification managers of their roles and responsibilities.

An orientation for Tesda representatives then followed.

Also, all technical institutions in the province converged for the election of their new set of officers.

Atino’s new set of officers was led by Ma. Cristina Orbecido of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center as president. (PR)
