Checkpoints mounted in every MisOr town to prevent virus spread

LOCAL chief executives of the different towns in the first district of Misamis Oriental including Gingoog City have mounted unified strategy in security checkpoints to prevent entry and spread of the deadly Covid-19.

Members of the League of Municipalities in the province’s first district and their town’s chiefs of police have gathered early this week and came up with a comprehensive plan and put in place measures against the disease.

Officials decided to have a unified checkpoints in every municipality to ensure that those who might have Covid-19 could not gain entrance while also ensuring safety and security of every motorist and commuters.

The intensified security checkpoint will start in Jasaan town and Magsaysay town for those coming from Butuan City. It will be implemented on March 20.

Private vehicles will be given passes as indication that they already pass thermal scanning and other sanitation protocols and this will be surrendered to the last checkpoint of their destination.

Each checkpoint will have members from the city or municipal health office, disaster office and police.

Mayors urged bus terminal management, bus operators, health department and police and other concerned agencies to have passengers undergo thermal scanning before leaving the bus terminals.

“Angay nga magmalig-on ang mga taga Misamis Oriental kay walay makuha sa pagkahadlok. Life must continue, Gingoog City Vice Mayor Peter Unabia said.

On the other hand, the Gingoog City Government installed a Covid-19 command center at the ground floor outside the City Museum.

The command center formed by Unabia and Mayor Erick Canosa will operate 24/7 to ensure that all Covid-19 related concerns will be attended to.

The center is equipped with communication and monitoring devices, ambulance, among others.

“Prevention is better than cure. Atong hangyo sa katawhan nga mag-cooperate lang ta ug magtinabangay,” Canosa said.
