Barlig junior cops complete training

FORTY–NINE new members were added to the roster of the Barlig Municipal Police Station’s qualified junior police.

The new members successfully completed their Basic Public Safety and Law Enforcement Education Training March 13 to 15, at Sitio Tiku, Fiangtin, Barlig in the Mountain Province.

The training is designed to encamp the participants and keep them away from their comfort zones for the purpose of building discipline, camaraderie, teamwork, resourcefulness, social responsibility and to instill good traits that would be beneficial to themselves and the community as a whole.

Councilor Johnson Ingson, who chairs the Municipal Council’s committee on peace and order reiterated the program will be a good diversion to the youth vulnerable to becoming juvenile delinquents and prone to recruitment by groups.

The Bureau of Fire Protection and the Barlig Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Personnel taught the participants first aid procedure, bandaging and carrying techniques augmented by twelve senior members of the Junior Pulis-Kadaclan NHS Cluster as facilitators.

The youth brigade is expected to banner within their sector the campaigns of the government on anti-illegal drugs and anti-terrorism, the flagship program “Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT)” was discussed with them.

The junior police dubbed as the “Ading Pulis” of the Barlig Municipal Police Station is a partnership program of the education sector and the local government unit conceptualized in 2015 and is recognized as a best practice in the municipality and is now being adopted by other municipalities in the province.
