A MAN accused of duping residents using a fake solicitation letter with a forged signature of Talisay City Mayor Gerard Anthony Gullas Jr. was arrested by police in Barangay Tanke, Talisay City around 11 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2020.
Talisay City Police Office Director Police Major Ace Pelare identified the man as Hertor Montemayor, 26, a resident of Poblacion, Toledo City. He used the aliases Jun Mark Edoloerio and Kenneth Angelo Canape.
According to Pelare, they conducted a hot pursuit operation after they received information that Montemayor solicited donations in Barangay Tanke for supposedly a coronavirus disease (Covid-19) seminar. Affixed in the solicitation leter was a forged signature of Gullas.
Confiscated from the suspect were the solicitation letters, fake identification cards and some cosmetics.
It was later found out that Montemayor had an existing warrant for an estafa case. (REV/JGS)
