FaDAL Baguio members were introduced and welcomed March 11 at the Revel, Palace BGC Taguig together with FaDAL Mindanao.

Rio Haris Gopeng. “Traditional ethnic, a twist in time”. With the vigorously evolving fashion, ethnic with a twist of modern has taken the fashion world by storm. The fusion of the traditional fabric and the classic modern prints creates a mix up of contemporary functionality and comfort. This traditional woven fabric showcases the Mayoyao, Ifugao beauty fused with modern fabrics and embellished with lace adornments, rhinestones, feathers, ethnic embroidery and beads. They are royalties representing the elite of the highland.

Ayra Longsiab - Combining traditional and rock n roll in ready to wear fashion.

Jairus Sumineg. KOÍ. Throughout history, the Filipinos have been known for their resilience and have displayed a sense of perseverance in the face of adversity. A symbol of strength and individualism, as well as perseverance and endurance, the Koi is a legendary fish amongst Asian countries. Jairus Sumineg’s deft hand at fabric manipulation is the highlight of the design. From a design conceived by conceptual simplicity exhibiting structural complexity, executed by cutting techniques, meticulous hand-sewing and signature sculptural draping, this recreates lines and undulations reminiscent of the Koi fish. Koí is a piece that links various cultures in an effort to depict that the Filipino dress is as timeless and traditional as it is current, stylish, and relevant.

Andrew Visaya. The inspiration of this serpentine gown in Benguet inabel is a Cordilleran woman who sways to the dance of modernization. It is intricately designed to showcase a never forgotten fashion statement of women from the Cordillera, the tapis. The lace, rhinestones and tassel beads adorn this masterpiece. A reflection of a modern Igorota who is strong, beautiful and a powerful. “Taraki”, a word often referred to Cordilleran men who exude charm and confidence. This Benguet inabel suit is embellished with tassel beads that perfect the design. Indeed, sophistication and class at its finest!

The occasion was in in sync with the group’s 10th year anniversary celebration and for charitable causes in support of Philippine fashion icon Frederick Peralta.

FaDAL aims to make a difference in Philippine fashion by promoting Filipino ingenuity in the entire country.
