THE National Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) Games 2020 set in April this year will no longer push through as organizers moved it to April 2021 instead since the state of public health emergency is still in effect in the country due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Davao Region Prisaa president Ma. Lita Montalban, who also head the Davao City Prisa, bared this in a phone interview with SunStar Davao recently.

She said, “Next year na ang National Prisaa Games sa Tuguegarao gihapon. Sila man ungta ang host this year (The National Prisaa Games next year will still be in Tuguegarao. They are supposed to host it this year).”

Montalban said most games of the Davao City Prisaa Meet 2020 were suspended before the city government of Davao enforced a community quarantine in the city. Only men’s and women’s athletics, men’s and women’s chess, women’s volleyball and women’s basketball concluded.

“Kung ma-lift na ning quarantine og public health emergency, gusto namo ipadayon ang city meet maski Saturdays or Sundays lang (We want to resume the games of the city eliminations even on Saturdays and Sundays once the quarantine and public health emergency are lifted),” she said.

She added that once the Covid-19 crisis is over, they might still continue with the Davao Region Prisaa Meet that Davao City will host. “Aron makadula gihapon ang mga bata kay nangandam naman ni sila (So the athletes can still play as they have long been preparing for this),” she added.

This, however, will still be tackled when the Davao Region Prisaa Board convenes after the quarantine is over.
