3 BIFFs surrender in North Cotabato

THREE Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) have surrendered to government authorities in the province of North Cotabato, the military reported Sunday, March 22, 2020.

Major General Diosdado Carreon, Army’s 6th Infantry Division commander, identified the BIFF surrenderers as Daud Raguiab, Faizal Pangilan, and Ali Udas Kasim, all under the BIFF’s Karialan faction.

Carroen said the three surrendered on Friday, March 20, 2020 to the troops of the Army’s 7th Infantry Battalion in the village of Ladtingan, Pikit, North Cotabato.

Carreon said they turned over one caliber .50 rifle, one Rocket-Propelled Grenade, one M-79 grenade launcher, and ammunition.

“More rebels decide to surrender and help our ground forces in working out our anti-terrorism campaign. We mean to sustain these gains through purposive offensives and community engagements in the area,” said Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom).

“We work hand in hand with local government units and agencies in aiding the reintegration and reformation of former rebels in Mindanao,” Sobejana added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
