THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) assisted returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were stranded at the Clark International Airport over the weekend due to strict implementation of enhanced community quarantine.
PRO-Central Luzon Director Brigadier General Rhodel Sermonia and OWWA Deputy Administrator Mocha Uson assisted some 100 who came from various countries abroad and were all heading home in the different provinces of Northern Luzon.
From Clark, the OFWs were escorted to the Dau Bus Terminal in Mabalacat City, where they were fetched by their families and relatives.
Transportation services were also made available for the OFWs who cannot be fetched by their families or loved ones, Sermonia said.
The police office said the effort is part of the PRO-Central Luzon’s program which caters to the welfare of the OFWs as well as their families and relatives.
"Through our OFW desk in collaboration with OWWA, outright assistance to our OFWs are being provided, including the distribution of face masks and sanitizers,” Sermonia said.
