Guv urges mayors to put up quarantine facility

NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson called the mayors of the towns and cities in the province to put up their own quarantine facility for persons under monitoring (PUMs) of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

In a Memorandum No. GOV- 03- 21- 044, Lacson ordered the mayor's to put up the facility within five days upon receipt of the memorandum.

In the absence of quarantine area, the mayors can enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the local school supervisor to use available classrooms as quarantine facility, the governor said.

The order also established the Capitol owned- Mambukal Summer Resort in Murcia town as quarantine facility of the Provincial Government for PUMs, Lacson added.

Meanwhile, in a separate memorandum order Lacson established the Cadiz District Hospital as a Covid-19 Center of Negros Occidental.

He said that all persons under investigation and those found to be positive for Covid-19 with mild and moderate cases "shall be immediately referred to this hospital where they shall receive proper treatment until they are fit to be discharged.

Serious cases, Lacson said will be referred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City for treatment. (Teresa D. Ellera/SunStar Bacolod)
