10 more PUIs, 1 critical confined at NMMC

TEN more patients under investigation (PUIs), one of them in critical condition, are still confined at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) as of Monday, March 23, chief of hospital Dr. Jose Chan said.

The patient in critical condition, Chan said, is a man in his 40s.

Swabs have already been taken from the patients, but they have not yet been delivered to the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM).

On Sunday night, Department of Health-Northern Mindanao director Dr. Adriano Suba-an announced that 10 PUIs were tested negative for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19). They were discharged from the NMMC Monday, March 23.

One of the PUIs who tested negative is the wife of patient 40, the 54-year-old Muslim male who was tested positive for Covid-19 and died on March 13 at NMMC.

Of the 10 PUIs, one is from Oroquieta City, two from Ozamis City, one from Camiguin, and five from Cagayan de Oro City.

The daughter of patient 40, on the other hand, is still admitted at the NMMC as they have not received the result for her test, Chan said.

Meanwhile, the total number of persons under monitoring (PUMs) in Cagayan de Oro City as of Monday, March 23, is now at 453, according to City Health Office (CHO) Public Health Technical Division head Dr. Claire Azura-Pagunawan.

There are 149 who already finished their 14-day quarantine, she added.
