Lawmen nab 2 Abu Sayyaf followers

JOINT police and military operatives arrested a two suspected Abu Sayyaf members, involved in the kidnapping of a teacher five months ago, an official said Monday, March 23.

Police Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspects as Erma Sahibol and Kimar Juram.

Quidilla said they were apprehended after a warrant of arrest was served against them at 9:15 p.m. Saturday at Sitio Malandi in Patalon Village, Zamboanga City.

He said the two, who are followers of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Idang Susukan, have standing warrants of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention, issued on February 17, 2020 by the court of Jolo, Sulu.

The police official said they were allegedly involved in the kidnapping of Rosina Singua, a public school teacher, on September 27, 2019.

Singua, accompanied by Sahibol, was supposed to attend a wedding ceremony, but ended up kidnapped.

Troops of the Joint Task Force Sulu have rescued Singua on October 16 from a hotel room in Barangay Walled City, Jolo, Sulu.

Quidilla commended the arresting team for a job well done that resulted to the arrest of the two suspects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
