COMPANIES involved in manufacturing, construction, fabrication, and agribusiness have agreed to the suggestions of the City Government of Davao to reduce their work force on site to comply with the social distancing guidelines.
These natures of businesses were not initially exempted from closure based on Sec. 1 of Executive Order (EO) No. 16-A s. 2020.
In an interview through 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio, Davao City mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said they have consulted with construction companies about the advice on reducing people in the work sites and extend the deadlines of the building completion.
Aside from that, the implementation of the companies in social distancing must also be checked regularly.
“Musugot sila sa ingon ani nga circumstances. Pag dili masunod during inspection, then you close it down (They agreed in these circumstances. If they fail to follow the social distancing measures, then they should be closed down),” she said.
“In the sectors of manufacturing, fabrication, and agribusinesses, mao pud ang ilang sulti (that is what they said),” she added.
Based on EO 16-A s. 2020, the only businesses establishments that were exempted from closure are groceries, supermarkets, mall in-house department stores, pharmacies, drugstores, medical laboratories, banks and ATMs, hardwares, money-transfer services and bayad centers, courier services, printing presses, auto-repair services, gas stations, laundry shops, cellphone repair shops, pet shops, convenience stores, wholesale stores, sari-sari stores, commissaries, telecommunications companies, energy and internet services, hotels, motels, and travellers’ inns, private business offices, government offices, offices of doctors, dentists, optometrists, lawyers, public accountants, architects, engineers and other related professional services.
Meanwhile, all restaurants, cafes, bars, bakery and other food establishments should only allow take-outs, store delivery, or food delivery services.
However, in her previous interview, Duterte-Carpio said she is contemplating on taking out other business establishments in the exemptions.
