THE spirit of volunteerism surges in times of crisis especially with the peril brought by coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Bacolod City has one confirmed coronavirus carrier but the good news is the person concerned was recorded to have reached recovery level following his contracting the virus from travel abroad.
Bacolodnons and Negrenses appeared frightened learning such confirmation and persisted to work on the preventive measures that they have started in view of protecting the multitude of people from innocently contracting the virus.
As the need to disinfect streets, the nooks and corners of the city emerges, the Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade volunteers also enhanced their voluntary spirits to initiate the disinfection of those roads to facilitate cleanliness in the city.
As this initiative was learned by other generous individuals, donations of boxes of disinfectants were turned over to their office as facilitated by Bacolod City Councilor Al Victor Espino.
The donation was realized due to the collaborative efforts of kind-hearted citizens with the persuasion made by Councilor Espino who also forked out something from his pocket for the said purpose.
On March 22, 2020, CVFB disinfected some parts of Bacolod particularly at Downtown Area where the old City Hall is located, some parts of Gatuslao Street and those near the hospitals.
It took almost two hours to mix the 2,016 liters of disinfectants to 22,000 liters of water.
