THE Davao City Government has started distributing its rationed goods to some 23,000 households in 32 villages as part of the city’s effort to support indigent and displaced individuals due to the city-wide community quarantine.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Monday, March 23, said the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is currently distributing the ration cards to qualified beneficiaries affected by the economic and livelihood losses following the closure of establishments due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Duterte-Carpio said the following barangays that are ready for ration distribution are 1-A, 2-A, 6-A, 7-A, 10-A, 11-B, 12-B, 13-B, 14-B, 15-B, 16-B, 17-B, 18-B, 22-C, 36-D, Langub, Lasang, Lumiad, Colosas, San Isidro, Callawa, Acacia, Indangan, Waan, Matina Biao, Manambulan, Angalan, Talomo River, Biao Joaquin, Lampianao, Dominga, and Dacudao.

Of these villages, the mayor said an estimated 23,000 households will be given rationed goods that will last for a week.

She previously announced that CSWDO will distribute ration cards to be used in claiming their rationed goods.

Qualified beneficiaries include indigents and out-of-work head of family due to Covid-19; contractuals or “no work, no pay” and out-of-work head of families; those who are self-employed; and a low income head of family with significant loss or reduction of income.

Meanwhile, she clarified the domicile or residence is not a requirement.

Workers in the city, who originated from other provinces, are also qualified in the rationing.

Duterte-Carpio, who also heads the Regional Covid-19 Task Force, said other local government units in the region will also be distributing and implementing its own rationing system.

The city mayor said they target to distribute the goods to some 50,000 to 70,000 households in all 182 city barangays.

In terms of the allotted number of goods, she said they are still updating the masterlist.

“We will see, it is a work in progress atong relief goods operation. (Our relief goods operation is a work in progress). There is a need mag-adjust ang City Government,” Duterte-Carpio said in a radio interview on 87.5FM Davao City Disaster Radio, adding the figures might be increasing in the following days.

She said no one will be turned down on the goods for as long they will not lie about their qualifications.

The mayor, meanwhile, said the city is still working on the relief goods in those barangays which were not yet included in the initial list.

She asked for the understanding of those beneficiaries whose ration goods would be delayed.

Duterte-Carpio said the public can send their complaints through CSWDO, Davao City Reports Facebook page, and the Covid-19 Operation Center.

“Just let us know unsa inyohang trouble ug ang inyohang challenge regarding sa relief goods (Just let us know if there are problems with the distribution of relief goods) so that we can properly act on it,” Duterte-Carpio said.
