Guv: No lab test confirming death of San Carlos PUI as Covid-19

GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson clarified Monday, March 23, that there is no laboratory result yet confirming that the 74-year-old person under investigation (PUI) indeed died of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Lacson said swab result from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) for the swab taken from the patient has not yet arrived.

The patient reportedly died at the San Carlos District Hospital in San Carlos City, Friday last week.

The patient had no history of travel, was admitted March 19 after exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms like chest pains and had a history of heart problem.

Lacson made the clarification after the Regional Risk Reduction Management Council released a data on Covid-19 showing one mortality in Negros Occidental.

As far as data on PUIs are concerned I think the Provincial Health Office report is more accurate because it directly came from the barangays, Lacson said.

To date he said, Negros Occidental has 29 PUIs admitted at the hospital but 23 have been released and that only six remains at the hospital.

About the Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) in Mambukal Resort who arrived in the province last week after they got stranded at Clark Airport in Pampanga, Lacson said, all of them have no flu-like symptoms and that they may be released and allowed to go back to their respective homes next week.

He also clarified that employees at Mambukal have been briefed not to approach the PUMs and that their meals are placed in a tent where they can get and eat as precautionary measures.

Lacson also said he is hoping everything will be back to normal in a month’s time.
