Lacson: Keep highways open for cargoes

GOVERNOR Eugenio Lacson urges the local government units to open the national roads relative to the checkpoints being set up on boundaries to stop the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Lacson said he will also discuss with Bacolod City officials to open some highways.

“Even under the enhanced quarantine there are exemptions. Cargo should continue. One member of a household will be given a pass to buy food and medicines,” Lacson said.

“They should keep Lacson and Araneta Streets, all national highways, open and protect the local roads,” he said.

“Checkpoints should be inside the cities and municipalities,” he said citing the delay in the delivery of goods that supplies are running out.

It is creating another problem, he pointed out.

Lacson also said that cargo should have free access to its destination.

Cargo carry all important commodities he said.

There are also commodities that should be brought to the seaports, Lacson said.
