CAN’T go out to work out? No problem.
Amateur and professional athletes made do of what they can while under home quarantine due to the Covid-19 to keep themselves healthy and fit.
In first two parts, Meralco Bolts pointguard Baser Amer of Davao City shared his daily workout program at home while Rio Olympian marathoner Mary Joy Tabal of Cebu City still kept a strict diet with less carbohydrates as she also has longer daily exercise routine.
One common problem with this home quarantine is people get to eat more than usual, thus, the need to be disciplined in what food to eat and to also be intentional in exercising.
Dabawenya Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2015 wakeboard double bronze medalist Maiquel Jawn “Mikee” Selga, for her part, said she’s getting bored not being able to go to the gym or go wakeboarding but is convinced that staying home is still for her own good.
“I’ve made workout plans for my home quarantine and I just cut down my food intake to maintain my body,” she told SunStar Davao via Facebook.
She also shared her own workout plan, saying that these can be done at home without any equipment: 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 jumping jacks and mountain climbers or tabata plank with 20 seconds on plank and 10 seconds rest (eight repetitions).
On the Covid-19 pandemic, Selga realized the importance of washing hands and obeying guidelines of the government in fighting the deadly disease.
“Stay at home and stay safe always,” she added.
It can be recalled that Selga also competed in the 2017 and 2019 editions of the SEA Games.
