2 passengers hide in truck to enter Davao City

TWO passengers coming from a different region were caught by the police hiding in a pile of tied folded cartons inside a vehicle as they attempt to enter Davao City.

Based on the report from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), personnel of Davao City Mobile Force Company of DCPO together with the forces from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Health (DOH), and local government unit (LGU) caught a private vehicle around 5:20 p.m. on March 23, at one of the control checkpoints located at Quarantine Site in Barangay Buda, Marilog District, Davao City.

In Davao City, there is a total of 21 control checkpoints to enforce the community quarantine.

During their inspection, they found two the passengers who hid as the vehicle tried to enter inside the region through Davao City.

At present, Davao City is under community quarantine wherein control checkpoints were put up along the borders of the city. Under RTF11-Covid-19 Order No. 2020-001-A entry of vehicles inside Davao region, be it private or public, is being strictly monitored and checked.

The vehicle, a Fuso Mitsubishi Wing Van Truck was driven by Vergel D. Jurial, while the passengers were identified as Herald Jone L. Alsa and Ruel Jay M. Tejada.

The two were caught after checkpoint personnel asked the driver what was inside the vehicle. Authorities noted there was something amiss.

This prompted authorities to request the driver to open his vehicle and they found the two hidden passengers.

Their identification cards were checked and they were sent back to Northern Mindanao. The driver was turned over to Marilog Police Station for proper case disposition.
