Support for NMMC frontliners pour in

IN THE midst of the ongoing threat of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), Cagayan de Oro (Bugo) School of Arts and Trades (Cobsat) produced face masks and donated them to the staff of Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) and state workers who are on the frontline responding to Covid-19.

The mass production of face masks is being done by the professors of Cobsat as their commitment in helping the government contain the threat of Covid-19.

An average of 1,500 face masks are being carefully made by the school, which are then transported to the Technical Skills and Development Authority (Tesda)-Northern Mindanao for distribution.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Northern Mindanao, for its part, donated laboratory supplies to the NMMC frontliners.

The DOST handed over 15 boxes of sterile gloves at 50 pairs per box, 200 pieces of shoe covers, 20 pieces of N95 masks, 100 pieces of surgical caps, and 50 pieces of surgical masks to NMMC.

"Our supplies were bought using government funds. It is just reasonable to help the public with it. Dili man sa panghinambog, but we should also let the public know about it because government money is for the people," DOST Regional Director Alfonso Alamban said.

Meanwhile, the Cagayan de Oro Chinese Community Group also donated P1 million worth of medical supplies to Northern Mindanao Medical Center to support the state-run hospital's frontliners against the deadly virus. (With reports from PIA-10)
