A GROUP of business owners and prominent members of the private sector in Cebu started a fundraising program to help frontliners and daily wage earners in the fight against Covid-19.

Divine Lee-Go, head organizer of the program, said the initiative is for the Cebuanos who are affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

"The local government is so busy now with the daily wage earners who are losing their jobs that I think the private sector should really start working on donating and helping out," she told SunStar Cebu.

Dubbed, #CourageCebu, Go and her group created the fund drive to help secure and provide test kits to the major hospitals and testing centers in Cebu, PPEs (protective suits, masks, goggles, etc.), as well as food, vitamins and other essentials for those infected and the medical frontliners.

"We commit to be transparent with all the donations and the procurement of kits and other supplies by providing regular updates on this channel. Budget allocation for the money we will raise will be: 30 percent for test kits, 40 percent for PPE’s and other protective gear and 30 percent for food and vitamins," the group said on their Gogetfunding page.

The fund drive already raised P509,776.56 since they launched it on Monday, March 23, 2020 and has ordered and donated 4,000 shoe covers, 1,200 surgical mask,650 N95 masks, 300 face shields, 320 bunny suits, 50 gallons of alcohol, 2,000 multivitamins and 1,000 B-complex vitamins, 3,066 canned goods, 1,098 pack of noodles, 130 packs of biscuits and 200 packed meals.

The group has also partnered with the Philippine Red Cross-Cebu Chapter for distribution of the valuable goods.
