PRO-Northern Mindanao chief orders cops to improve 57 checkpoints

THE top official of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao said Wednesday, March 25, that quarantine control points (QCPs) installed in some areas in Misamis Oriental and Lanao del Norte need improvement to control the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

PRO-Northern Mindanao Director Brigadier General Rolando Anduyan personally checked the QCPs and observed some areas that have to be improved, in terms of location.

In a press statement, he said QCPs were not put up in strategic areas, traffic signage were not properly installed, and personnel manning the checkpoint are not enough.

At present, Northern Mindanao has 57 QCPs manned by a total of 1184 police personnel, excluding personnel from the Bureau of Fire, military, health workers and other force multipliers.

Police said Iligan City has the most effective QCPs so far, since they already have decontamination area for people entering the city.

Anduyan ordered his men to establish a better system of implementing the fast lane and better control points procedures, including the posting of signages containing list of persons allowed to enter a particular area.

"PRO-10 will fine tune the procedures in running the QCPs in the region to comply with the directive of the Inter-Agency Task Force for Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Joint Task Force Coronavirus Shield for a better flow of the control points so that movement of authorized persons remain unhampered," Anduyan said.

PRO-Northern Mindanao asked the motorists to follow the protocols in QCPs and advised the public to obey the instructions of the government to stay at home.
